SEN Teaching Assistant – Denton

Teaching Personnel is seeking a committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton. This full-time position starts in October and will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential for a permanent role depending on performance. The pay for this role is £419.25 - £500 per week.

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be an integral part of the school’s support team, working closely with students who have Special Educational Needs (SEN). Your role will involve:

  • Student Support: Providing tailored support to students with SEN, helping them to access the curriculum and engage fully in their learning. This may involve working one-on-one with students or in small groups, adapting teaching materials, and employing specific strategies to meet individual needs.

  • Classroom Assistance: Assisting teachers in delivering lessons, ensuring that all students, particularly those with SEN, can participate effectively. You will help in creating an inclusive learning environment where every student feels supported and encouraged to achieve their potential.

  • Monitoring Progress: Keeping detailed records of student progress, providing feedback to teachers, and contributing to the development of Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Your insights will be valuable in tracking students’ achievements and identifying areas where they may need additional support.

  • Behavioural Support: Helping to manage classroom behaviour by implementing agreed-upon strategies and interventions. You will work to ensure that students with SEN are able to learn in a safe and supportive environment.

  • Pastoral Care: Offering pastoral support to students, helping them to overcome any emotional or social challenges that may impact their learning. You will play a key role in fostering students' overall wellbeing.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people, preferably in an educational setting.
  • A genuine interest in supporting students with SEN.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a positive approach to working with students who have diverse needs.
  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team and under the direction of teaching staff.
