A highly reputable SEN School Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant (TA) to join their secondary, alternative provision in Thrapston. This role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful impact on the lives of young people with additional needs, working within a supportive and nurturing environment.

About the Role:

The SEN TA will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs, helping them to achieve their full potential in both academic and personal development. The successful candidate will work closely with the teaching staff to deliver tailored interventions, assist with classroom management, and provide one-on-one support to students who require additional help.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs).
  • Support students in developing their social, emotional, and behavioral skills.
  • Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and other professionals to ensure the best possible outcomes for students.
  • Help to create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
  • Manage challenging behavior in a calm and professional manner, following the school's policies and procedures.
  • Support students during break and lunchtime activities, ensuring their safety and well-being.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEN, particularly in a secondary or alternative provision setting.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with complex needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team and to use your initiative when necessary.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN or Education (desirable but not essential).
  • Knowledge of de-escalation techniques and behavior management strategies (desirable).
