SEN Teaching Assistant

We are currently seeking a dedicated and compassionate 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to join the team at a client secondary school based in Didsbury. This position will commence after the October half term and run full-time until the end of the academic year (July 2025).

The successful candidate will work closely with a student with special educational needs (SEN), providing individualized support and assistance to ensure their academic and personal development. The successful applicant can expect to earn up to £105 per day (depending on experience).

The school is based in the heart of South Manchester, and is only a short walk away from the nearest public transport options. Staff members can also utilise the large onsite car park.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one support to a student with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
  • Assist the student in accessing the curriculum and adapting learning materials as necessary.
  • Monitor and track the progress of the student, reporting any concerns or achievements to the relevant staff members.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment for the student, promoting their social and emotional well-being.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents/guardians, and other professionals involved in the student's education to ensure effective communication and coordination of support.

Requirements:

  • Relevant experience working with students with SEN, preferably within a secondary school setting.
  • Knowledge of various special educational needs, including but not limited to autism spectrum disorder (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), dyslexia, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, to effectively liaise with students, staff members, parents/guardians, and external professionals.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
