A highly reputable Multi Academy Trust is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Learning Support Assistant to join their Outstanding all-through school based in Ilford. The SEN Learning Support Assistant will play a crucial role in supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to achieve their full potential, both academically and socially. Working closely with the SENCO, class teachers, and other support staff, the successful candidate will ensure that pupils receive tailored support and guidance, enabling them to thrive in the classroom and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN in a classroom or dedicated SEN setting
  • Assist teachers in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and strategies for students with additional needs
  • Support students in developing their social, emotional, and behavioural skills
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students
  • Monitor and track the progress of students and report feedback to teaching staff and SENCO
  • Support students during break/lunchtimes and accompany them on school trips or extra-curricular activities when required
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and support provided

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a school or educational setting
  • A patient, empathetic, and caring approach, with a genuine passion for supporting students with additional needs
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well as part of a team
  • Understanding of SEN, including conditions such as autism, ADHD, and learning difficulties
  • A positive and proactive attitude with a willingness to take on new challenges
  • Relevant qualifications, such as a CACHE Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent, are desirable but not essential
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to obtain one) is required for this role
