Smile Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic team for a school in Oldham. The ideal candidate will have experience working with children who have Special Educational Needs (SEN) and will be committed to providing exceptional support, ensuring each child has the opportunity to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally.
You will work closely with teachers and SEN staff to create an inclusive, supportive environment, tailoring learning strategies to meet individual needs and helping to foster positive, confident learning experiences for all students.
 
Key responsibilities:

  • Provide 1:1 or group support for students with SEN, ensuring they are fully engaged in classroom activities
  • Assist with the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans
  • Support students with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, physical disabilities, and learning difficulties
  • Adapt learning materials to make them accessible to students with different learning abilities
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents
  • Promote a positive, inclusive environment where every child feels safe and valued
  • Assist with classroom management, ensuring a structured and calm learning atmosphere
  • Work closely with the SENCO and wider school staff to ensure the best outcomes for students

Key requirements:
  • Experience working with children with SEN in a school setting
  • A patient, empathetic, and understanding approach
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with teachers, parents, and other staff
  • A proactive, positive attitude and the ability to motivate and engage children
  • Relevant qualifications in Special Educational Needs (desirable but not essential)
