Teaching Assistant for Autism Support in Mainstream Schools (Exeter)

Teaching Personnel are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team, supporting primary students with autism in mainstream schools across Exeter. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone passionate about inclusive education and making a meaningful difference in the lives of young learners.

Key Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and group support to students with autism, helping them access the curriculum and participate fully in school life.
- Work closely with class teachers to implement tailored support plans, ensuring individual needs are met.
- Assist in the development of social, emotional, and communication skills.
- Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment.
- Support the use of visual aids, sensory strategies, and structured routines to enhance learning.
- Monitor progress and provide feedback to staff and parents as needed.

Requirements:
- Experience working with children, preferably those with autism or additional needs, in an educational setting.
- A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Knowledge of strategies to support students with autism is desirable.
- Relevant qualifications in education, childcare, or special needs are advantageous but not essential. Training will be provided.
