About the Role:

Teaching Personnel is looking for a compassionate and committed SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming mainstream primary school in Tameside. Starting in December, this full-time, temporary position offers a rewarding opportunity to work closely with students who have additional needs, ensuring they receive the tailored support they need to succeed academically, socially, and emotionally.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside class teachers and the SEN team to deliver individualized support to students with a range of needs, including learning, behavioural, and social-emotional challenges. Your role will be essential in helping these students engage positively with the curriculum and reach their potential within a mainstream setting.

Key Responsibilities:

• Providing one-on-one and small-group support to students with special educational needs to facilitate their learning and development.
• Assisting teachers in implementing and adapting lesson plans to meet the needs of individual students.
• Supporting students’ social and emotional growth through positive reinforcement and relationship-building.
• Monitoring students’ progress, challenges, and achievements, and communicating effectively with staff and parents to ensure continuity of support.
• Helping to foster a welcoming, inclusive, and safe environment where every child feels valued and able to thrive.

Ideal Candidate:

We’re looking for an SEN Teaching Assistant who is passionate about working with children with additional needs in a mainstream setting. The ideal candidate will have:

• Experience working with children with SEN, ideally within a primary school or similar setting.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and parents.
• Patience, empathy, and the ability to stay positive in challenging situations.
• A flexible and proactive approach, with the ability to adapt to individual students' needs.

While a background in education or SEN is beneficial, we welcome applications from candidates with experience in relevant support roles and a commitment to inclusive education.
