Vocational Tutor (SEN Secondary School)
Location: Towcester, Silverstone
Salary: £25,410 - £29,190 per annum (dependent on qualifications and experience) plus SEN allowance and additional benefits
Start Date: January 2025 or sooner

A highly reputable, independent SEN secondary school in Towcester, Silverstone, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Vocational Tutor to join its team on a permanent basis. This specialist school supports young people with special educational needs, providing a nurturing and inclusive learning environment.

The successful candidate will play a key role in delivering vocational qualifications to secondary-aged students, helping them develop essential life and employability skills. Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver high-quality vocational education to SEN students in line with the school's curriculum.
  • Plan and implement engaging lessons tailored to the individual needs of students.
  • Provide one-to-one support and small group teaching, ensuring all students are able to achieve their potential.
  • Assess and track student progress, adapting teaching strategies where necessary.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment, promoting personal growth and independence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to support students’ educational and emotional development.
  • Contribute to the development of vocational programmes within the school.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A relevant teaching qualification (PGCE, QTS, or equivalent) or industry-recognised qualifications in vocational subjects.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in an SEN environment, or with students who have special educational needs, is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Strong communication skills, patience, and adaptability in delivering vocational education to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of vocational qualifications, the needs of SEN students, and the ability to tailor teaching methods accordingly.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
