Contract: Temporary, Easter until Summer term with potential for permanent placement

Hours: Full-time

Teaching Personnel is currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Special Educational Needs 1:1 Teaching Assistant (SEN TA) to join a reputable school in Castleford. This position involves working closely with a child diagnosed with autism within the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) setting. The successful candidate will provide one-on-one support, assisting the child in their academic, social, and emotional development.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide tailored support to meet the individual needs of the child with autism, both academically and socially.
  • Assist the child in accessing the curriculum and engaging with learning activities.
  • Implement strategies to promote positive behavior and social interactions.
  • Work collaboratively with the class teacher and SENCO to create and implement individual education plans (IEPs).
  • Monitor and record the child's progress, providing regular feedback to relevant stakeholders.
  • Foster a nurturing and inclusive learning environment that promotes the child's independence and self-confidence.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with Special Educational Needs, particularly autism.
  • Level 3 qualification in childcare or relevant field.
  • Strong understanding of SEN strategies and interventions.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience when working with children with diverse needs.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to meet the individual needs of the child.
