The Role

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic full-time Secondary SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) Teaching Assistant to join a dynamic secondary school in Truro. Starting in September 2024, this role involves providing comprehensive support to students with a range of special educational needs, helping them to thrive academically and socially.

Responsibilities

  • Individual Support: Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with SEND, tailoring your approach to meet their unique needs.
  • Classroom Assistance: Work alongside teachers to support the delivery of lessons, ensuring all students can access the curriculum effectively.
  • Resource Development: Assist in preparing and adapting educational materials and resources to support diverse learning needs.
  • Behaviour Management: Help maintain a positive and inclusive classroom environment, supporting students in managing their behaviour and emotional well-being.
  • Progress Monitoring: Track and report on students' progress, working with teachers to identify and implement additional support strategies as needed.
  • Communication: Collaborate with teachers, parents, and other professionals to ensure comprehensive support for students.

Requirements

  • Qualifications: A relevant qualification in education or childcare (Level 2 or above) is preferred.
  • Experience: Previous experience working with secondary school students and/or those with special educational needs is highly desirable.
  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and staff.
  • Adaptability: Flexibility and creativity in adapting teaching methods to meet the individual needs of students.
  • Commitment: A genuine passion for supporting students' educational and personal development.
