Are you an experienced Teaching Assistant with a passion for supporting children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)? Smile Education is seeking a dedicated SEND Teaching Assistant to work in a primary school in Oldbury, starting from January 2025. This is an exciting, ongoing opportunity to provide valuable support to pupils who need it most.
Role Overview:
As a SEND Teaching Assistant, you will play a vital role in helping children with a range of special educational needs thrive in a primary school environment. You will work closely with the class teacher and SENCo to deliver tailored support, ensuring that all pupils can access the curriculum and make progress in their learning.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Providing 1:1 and small group support to pupils with SEND.
  • Assisting in the delivery of personalised learning plans and interventions.
  • Helping to manage and reduce barriers to learning for children with additional needs.
  • Supporting pupils’ social, emotional, and behavioural development.
  • Liaising with teachers, parents, and external professionals to ensure consistent support.
  • Promoting an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
  • Ensuring that safeguarding procedures are always followed.
Requirements:
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience working with children with SEND, preferably in a primary school.
  • Strong understanding of SEND and strategies for supporting learning and development.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with children.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply).
  • Right to work in the UK.
