Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary school in Fareham who is seeking a highly organised, proactive, and experienced Senior Science Technician to join their dedicated team. In this key role, you will work closely with the science faculty to ensure that all prep rooms, labs, and materials are expertly organised and maintained, allowing for seamless delivery of practical science lessons.

 

The successful candidate will:

  • Lead on organisation of the prep rooms, ensuring all practical experiments are prepared efficiently and correctly.
  • Manage the preparation of laboratory materials for biology, chemistry, and physics lessons, adhering to the highest standards.
  • Support teaching staff in delivering engaging, hands-on lessons by providing technical expertise and guidance.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations in all aspects of laboratory work.
  • Oversee stock levels, maintenance of equipment, and ordering of resources to keep the science department running smoothly.
  • Be an active member of the school community, including attending open evenings and assisting with Saturday transition workshops.

 

The desired candidate will have:

  • Previous experience in a similar role, ideally within a secondary school or educational setting.
  • A strong understanding of health and safety in a science laboratory environment, including COSHH and CLEAPSS regulations.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities effectively.
  • A proactive attitude and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Experience in managing prep rooms, resources, and equipment, ensuring the smooth day-to-day running of the department.
  • Confidence in supporting teachers and students with technical expertise, ensuring that practical science lessons are safe and successful.
