Job Title: Site Caretaker
Department: Trust Central Team
Reports to: Estates Manager
Contract: 52 Weeks, 20hpw
Location: Mid/South West Devon
Salary: 25554-28133
Key Role: Ensure high-standard premises maintenance across our academies.

Job Overview:
We are looking for a proactive, organized individual to manage both planned and reactive maintenance tasks, ensuring our buildings are in top condition and compliant with health and safety standards. Your primary role is to keep the properties in optimal working order.

Key Competencies:

  • Experience in building maintenance, ideally in a school or similar environment.
  • Practical skills in carpentry, electrical work, plumbing, drainage, and painting.
  • Familiarity with health and safety regulations and COSHH.
  • Ability to identify and mitigate risks and hazards.
  • Competence in using IT systems for communication and record-keeping.
  • Strong organizational skills to manage stock and oversee contractors.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Conduct routine and emergency maintenance tasks.
  • Manage minor security and safety issues, reporting major repairs to the Estate Manager.
  • Ensure the site is clean and free from hazards, including litter, ice, and trip hazards.
  • Oversee contractors and maintain site security to prevent unauthorized access.
  • Respond effectively to incidents like fire, flood, or break-ins.

  • Ability to work independently and within a team.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility and a proactive attitude.

Requirements:

  • Proficiency in IT (Microsoft Office).
  • Comfortable working in an educational setting.
  • Ability to perform physically demanding tasks.
  • A valid driver’s license and willingness to travel between sites.
