Job Title: Lead Caretaker/Site Supervisor
Department: Trust Central Team
Reports to: Estates Manager
Contract: 52 weeks; 20 hours per week FTE
Location: East Cornwall or Devon
Salary: £28,594 - £32,085 (Van and tools provided)

Job Overview:
We are looking for an organised, self-motivated Lead Caretaker/Site Supervisor to manage premises maintenance across our academies. Your role will involve both planned and reactive maintenance, ensuring our properties meet regulatory and health and safety standards. You will lead and support our team of Caretakers, ensuring that our buildings are in optimal working condition.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and perform maintenance tasks, including carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, painting, and decorating.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and COSHH standards.
  • Identify and mitigate risks, manage resources, and maintain stock levels.
  • Use IT systems for communication, record-keeping, and managing the team.
  • Handle routine security tasks, including prevention of unauthorised access and responding to incidents.
  • Maintain external areas, ensuring they are free from hazards such as ice or litter.
  • Supervise and coordinate contractors on-site, ensuring high-quality work.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • Strong practical knowledge and experience in building maintenance, preferably in an educational setting.
  • Basic skills in carpentry, plumbing, electrical work, and people management.
  • Proficient in IT and mobile phone use for communication and management.
  • Ability to work independently, manage workload effectively, and maintain professional relationships.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Level 2 or 3 Health and Safety certification.
  • GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.

Additional Requirements:

  • Must have a valid driving license and be willing to travel between sites.
  • Commitment to safeguarding and working effectively within a team.
