Specialist Teaching Assistant / Behaviour Support worker

A pupil refferal unit based in Blackpool are recruiting for specialist teaching assistants to provide additional support for its pupils. The school caters for children and young people aged 6-16 who are unable to access mainstream schools due to their Social, Emotional and Mental Health needs. The schools mission is to ensure that all of their pupils needs are met to allow maxiumum development. 

Your role:

As a specialist teaching assistant, your role with be to provide support for all pupils in your care. You will be required to follow an EHC Plan to ensure the pupils are reaching their full educational and holistic potential. Your general role is to ensure the pupils needs are met however you will be required to support the class teacher with setting up lessons and ensuring the classroom environment is safe and pupils are fully supported. You may also be required to work with pupils on a 1:1 basis. We require you to be a confident, passionate educator who is able to deescelate and handle challenging behaviour. 

Main duties:

  • Provide excellent support to ensure maximum development and potential 
  • Encourage good behaviour
  • Consider the choices, needs and wishes of each pupil and encourage them to make the right choices for learning
  • Support pupils by following individualised timetables and EHC Plans
  • Promote participation, healthy attitudes and behaviour
  • Safeguard all the young people in your care

  • Full time role, Monday to Friday 8.30-3.30
  • PAYE contract
