A pupil refferal unit based in Blackpool that caters for children and young people with 6-16 who are unable to attend mainstram school are hiring for behaviour support mentors. The schools mission is to support all of the young people in Blackpool, their family/carers and schools to ensure the young person’s needs are met and the development of their thinking, social, emotional and physical skills allows them to exceed.

The role:

You will be required on a full-time basis with the view to start as soon as possible. The role is available due to gaps in staffing and the school requiring additional support within the existing classes. Within the role you will be expected to work to support pupils with ASC/ and or SEMH needs and provide great quality interventions be it 1:1 or in a small group, and general classroom support. As the school focuses on pupils’ individual needs candidates will need to be able to differentiate their approach to optimise learning for each specific child. Dependant on the successful applicant’s availability there would be a view to secure a school contract after initially starting on a temporary basis.

Key Duties:

  • Provide quality support to pupils who have Social, Emotional and Mental health needs. 
  • Work with pupils on a 1:1 basis and follow a EHC Plan. 
  • Provide general support to the class teacher by helping with the planning and delivering of lessons.

Key Information:

  • Full-time Monday to Friday (8:30am-3:30pm).
  • Competitive hourly rate of pay of £12.90+ based on additional duties and experience.
  • Background of supporting young people or adults, not necessarily in an educational setting.
  • No school related qualifications are required but can be desirable.
  • Blackpool based, FY3.
  • Start date: ASAP.
