An alternative provision in Liverpool is dedicated to creating an inclusive and supportive environment where every child can thrive. They are seeking a passionate and experienced Sports Coach to join their team and make a positive impact on the lives of children with special educational needs.

Job Description:

As a Sports Coach, you will play a crucial role in supporting and engaging children with special educational needs (SEN) through the power of sports. Your expertise in sports coaching will be used to keep children active, foster teamwork, and enhance their overall well-being. Some students may display challenging behaviours, and it will be essential for you to build strong, trustworthy bonds to help them overcome barriers to learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement an inclusive sports plan that caters to the diverse needs of all students.
  • Engage children in various physical activities that promote fitness, coordination, and social interaction.
  • Foster a safe and supportive environment where students feel valued and encouraged to participate.
  • Work closely with SEN staff and other educators to tailor activities to individual needs.
  • Build strong, trustworthy relationships with students to understand their unique challenges and motivations.
  • Employ strategies to manage and positively redirect challenging behaviors.
  • Monitor and report on students' progress, adapting plans as necessary to ensure continued engagement and development.
  • Promote a positive attitude towards physical activity and its benefits for mental and physical health.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a Sports Coach, preferably within the education sector.
  • Strong understanding of special educational needs and experience working with children who have SEN.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust and rapport with students.
  • Ability to create and adapt inclusive sports plans that meet the needs of all students.
  • Patience, empathy, and a passion for making a difference in children's lives.
  • Relevant coaching qualifications and certifications.
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours with a calm and positive approach.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
