Role Overview:

As a Specialist Teaching Assistant focusing on sports within SEN provisions, you’ll play a crucial role in supporting the educational and physical development of children with special educational needs and those from disadvantaged backgrounds in Bradford. In this role, you’ll:

  • Support Tailored Learning: Assist in delivering tailored lessons that integrate sports and physical activities, designed to meet the unique needs of each child, fostering both their academic and physical development.
  • Provide Individualised Support: Offer one-to-one or small group assistance, focusing on helping children with additional needs or those from disadvantaged backgrounds to overcome challenges and achieve their full potential.
  • Lead Inclusive Sports Activities: Organise and lead adapted sports sessions and extracurricular activities that promote physical fitness, teamwork, and confidence-building, ensuring all children can participate and benefit.
  • Collaborate on Inclusive Events: Work with colleagues to plan and implement inclusive sports-related events, such as adapted sports days, tournaments, and fitness challenges, creating a supportive and enriching environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • A degree in Sports Science, Physical Education, or a related field.
  • A genuine passion for working with children, particularly those with additional needs or from disadvantaged backgrounds.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage, inspire, and support young learners facing diverse challenges.
  • Adaptability and resilience to succeed in a specialised and fast-paced school environment.
  • Previous experience working with children with SEN or from disadvantaged backgrounds is highly advantageous.
