We are looking to take on a proactive Teaching Assistant to work with students with Autism in a large secondary school in Barry.

The school are looking to support learners with Autism who struggle with engagement in school and receive support from the school's large Autism Base. The pupils would benefit from the support of a Teaching Assistant with previous childcare, education or care experience, and a can-do attitude to support through KS3 and KS4 (ages 11 - 18). A strong interest in Additional Needs support, and the motivation to make a difference is essential for this role.

This is an incredibly rewarding position where no day is the same; students working with the Teaching Assistant team benefit from a mix of 1-2-1 support, intervention and emotional/behavioural support to create and maintain a positive learning environment.

You will be joining this team of experienced Teaching Assistants and will be able to develop your own skills and knowledge in ALN support, with the opportunity to focus on any areas of specialism you may have (e.g. EAL, Autism, Exam Support, Speech and Language).

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Supporting students aged 11 - 18 within the Autism Base.
  • Working on a 1:1 and small group basis with learners with Additional Learning Needs.
  • Assisting the Class Teachers, and Senior Team, with managing pupil behaviour and monitoring progress.
  • Engaging learners using adapted curriculums and additional activities to create a positive learning environment for all.

Requirements:

-          Enhanced DBS Certificate (Child Only) and EWC Registration will be required before beginning this role. Support will be provided for those who don't already hold these.

-          A Level (or equivalent) education.
