Working Hours: Monday to Friday, 08:15am- 15:30pm.
Pay: £12.90 per hour upwards.

A lovely secondary school in the Barry area are seeking an individual to work within their dedicated Hub for Additional Learning Needs (ALN), committed to providing an inclusive and nurturing environment for students with a range of learning and developmental challenges. Their aim is to empower every learner to reach their full potential through tailored support, individualized learning plans, and a compassionate approach.

Role Overview:
The school are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join the team. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children who have additional learning needs, supporting them in both group settings and on a one-to-one basis. You will be responsible for helping to implement individual education plans (IEPs), providing in-class assistance, and fostering a positive, inclusive atmosphere for all learners.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to pupils with additional learning needs.
  • Assist the class teacher in delivering differentiated lessons that cater to a range of abilities.
  • Support students in managing their behaviour, promoting positive attitudes and self-confidence.
  • Help create and adapt learning materials to meet students’ needs.
  • Monitor and record students' progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents as required.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with additional learning needs (ALN), including those with Autism, ADHD, and physical disabilities, is highly desirable.
  • A passion for working in special education and a commitment to making a positive impact.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, resilience, and a caring approach – able to work with anxiety and mental health needs.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant or equivalent) would be advantageous but are not essential for the right candidate.
