Job Title: Part-Time Teaching Assistant - General support Year 1

Location: Cardiff CF11

Pay: £83-£90 per day (depending on experience)

An outstanding primary school are seeking a dedicated and compassionate individual to join their team as a part-time Teaching Assistant. This rewarding role involves providing general support to the class teacher and taking small groups for additional support. The role is part time two days a week to start on 11th April after Easter. 

Responsibilities:

  • Support the teacher in delivering lessons and activities to the students in Year 1.
  • Assist in preparing and setting up the classroom for lessons, including arranging materials, displays, and resources.
  • Supervise students during class, ensuring their safety and well-being at all times.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students who may need extra help with their learning.
  • Assist in assessing and tracking students' progress, including marking and recording work.
  • Help to manage student behaviour in accordance with school policies and procedures.
  • Support students with their personal care needs, such as helping with eating, toileting, and changing clothes.
  • Communicate with parents and carers on a regular basis, providing updates on their child's progress and behaviour.
  • Attend and participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and other school events as required.
  • Collaborate with the teacher and other staff members to create a positive and supportive learning environment for all students.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience working with children in a school setting is preferred.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with the classroom teacher and other school staff.
  • Knowledge of child development and early childhood education principles.
  • Ability to effectively support students in small group and one-on-one settings.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow directions and adhere to classroom expectations.
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to build positive relationships with students.
  • Willingness to assist with classroom management, including behaviour interventions and conflict resolution.
  • A commitment to upholding the school's policies and procedures.
  • A enhanced DBS (registered on the update service),
  • Registered with the Education Workforce Council (EWC)
  • Provide 24 months of references
