Location: Cardiff

Pay: £83.85 per day

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Teaching Assistant to join a dedicated team at a Primary school in Cardiff in September 2024. The successful candidate will work closely with the teachers and support staff to provide high-quality education and care for the pupils. The role will be varied supporting a pupil with Autism in the morning and providing interventions in the afternoon to KS2.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Work 1:1 with a pupil in Year 3 with autism and non-verbal communication, providing individualised support and guidance to help them achieve their academic and personal goals.
  • Support pupils in Year 4-6 with specific interventions, tailored to their individual needs and abilities.
  • Assist teachers in preparing lesson materials, setting up activities, and maintaining a safe and inclusive learning environment.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other teaching assistants to develop and implement personalised learning plans.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to pupils, helping them to build confidence and self-esteem.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with autism or special educational needs is essential.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, parents, and colleagues.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with flexibility and adaptability.
  • Good organisational skills, with the ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple responsibilities.
  • Understanding of child development and learning theories, with a commitment to inclusive education practices.
  • Excellent literacy and numeracy skills.
