As a KS3 Teaching Assistant, you will be responsible for providing support to students in Key Stage 3 and 4 (ages 11-16) within a school setting. Your primary role will involve assisting teachers in the classroom, helping to manage challenging behaviour, and providing one-to-one support to students who require additional help.

  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons and supporting students in the classroom
  • Help manage challenging behaviour and promote a positive learning environment
  • Provide one-to-one support to students who require additional help with their learning
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources
  • Supervise students during break times and other non-classroom activities
  • A relevant teaching assistant qualification
  • Previous experience working with children or young people
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Previous experience working as a Teaching Assistant with SEN and autism students, preferably in a secondary school setting.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, SEN, or autism support (e.g., Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, Autism Awareness certification).
  • Strong understanding of SEN and autism, including effective strategies for support.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting students with SEN and autism.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

A minimum of GCSEs in English and Maths

Experience working in a school or educational setting is desirable

  • Understanding of Key Stage 3 / 4 curriculum
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviour effectively
  • Strong organisational skills
  • First Aid Certification
  • Safeguarding training

This is a temporary full-time position based in Braintree, Essex. You will be working school hours and may be required to attend staff meetings or training sessions outside of regular hours.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
