A highly reputable primary school in Truro is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant to join their permanent staff list starting in September 2024. Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to the class teacher in the planning and delivery of engaging and effective lessons.
  • Assist with the preparation of teaching materials and resources.
  • Work with small groups or individual students to provide targeted support, ensuring all pupils reach their full potential.
  • Support the social and emotional development of students, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Help to manage classroom behavior, ensuring that all students are able to learn in a safe and supportive environment.
  • Participate in school activities, meetings, and professional development sessions as required.

Requirements:

  • Qualifications: A minimum of a Level 2 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is required. A Level 3 qualification is highly desirable.
  • Experience: Previous experience working in a primary school setting is essential. Experience supporting children with special educational needs (SEN) is an advantage.
  • Skills: Strong communication and interpersonal skills are essential, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents. Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for working with children are crucial.
  • Knowledge: A solid understanding of the primary school curriculum and the ability to support students in English, Mathematics, and other subjects. Knowledge of child development and behavior management strategies is also important.
  • Attitude: The ideal candidate will be proactive, flexible, and able to work both independently and as part of a team. A commitment to continuous professional development and a positive attitude towards learning are key.
  • Safeguarding: All applicants must be committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children. An enhanced DBS check will be required for this position.
