Do you have experience working with children and a desire to support their educational journey? Teaching Personnel are working closely with a secondary school in Gosport who are looking for a dedicated and enthusiastic individual to join their team as soon as possible.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students and teachers to provide essential support that enhances learning experiences. Your role will primarily involve working on a one-to-one basis or with small groups of students, ensuring they receive the guidance and encouragement they need to succeed.

 

  • Supporting Students: Provide individualised support to students with varying needs, helping them to understand and complete their work. This may involve working with students with special educational needs (SEN), providing extra help, or adapting materials to make them accessible.

  • Assisting Teachers: Collaborate with class teachers to create a positive learning environment. Help prepare lesson materials, manage classroom activities, and provide feedback on student progress.

  • Small Group Work: Facilitate small group sessions to reinforce learning concepts, provide additional practice, and help students build confidence in their abilities.

  • Behaviour Management: Assist in managing classroom behaviour to ensure a safe and productive learning environment. Implement school policies on behaviour and discipline as required.

  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate records of student progress and support provided, and report any concerns to the appropriate staff members.

  • Pastoral Support: Offer emotional and social support to students, acting as a positive role model and providing a calm and nurturing presence.

  • Communication: Work closely with teachers, parents, and other school staff to discuss student progress and any issues that may arise, ensuring that each child's needs are met effectively.

 

  • Experience: Prior experience working with children in an educational setting is essential. Experience with 1:1 support and working with small groups is highly desirable.

  • Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students, staff, and parents. A patient, calm, and supportive manner is crucial.

  • Qualities: A positive attitude, enthusiasm for working with young people, and a genuine passion for education. The ideal candidate will be proactive, adaptable, and able to work effectively as part of a team.

  • Knowledge: A good understanding of child development, special educational needs, and strategies for supporting students with diverse learning needs.

  • Flexibility: Willingness to take on various tasks as needed to support the school community and adapt to changing circumstances.
