We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic Teaching Assistant (TA) to join a secondary school setting, providing essential support to students aged 11-16. As a Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with students and staff to ensure all learners have the opportunity to access the curriculum and succeed in their education.

You will play a key role in assisting the classroom teacher with lesson delivery, supporting students who may require additional help, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide in-class support to students, helping them understand and engage with lesson content.
  • Assist teachers in delivering lessons by preparing resources, managing materials, and supporting classroom activities.
  • Work 1:1 or in small groups with students who may need additional help to achieve their learning goals.
  • Support students with a range of learning needs, ensuring all students are included and supported in their academic and social development.
  • Help students build confidence, develop social skills, and improve their focus in a secondary school setting.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers.
  • Assist with behaviour management, promoting a calm and focused learning environment.
  • Help students during transitions between lessons, breaks, and other school activities.
  • Provide additional support during exams and assessments, helping students stay on track and organised.
  • Previous experience working with children or young people in an educational, care, or youth work setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A patient, empathetic, and supportive approach to working with secondary school students.
  • A proactive and flexible attitude, able to adapt to the needs of different students and teachers.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection policies.
  • The ability to manage challenging behaviour and support students in staying engaged with learning.
  • An enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply for one).
  • Relevant qualifications in supporting teaching and learning (desirable but not essential).
