We are currently looking for an enthusiastic and compassionate Teaching Assistant to join our team.

Role Overview:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting a Year 7 pupil with challenging behaviour. Your primary responsibility will be to create a nurturing and structured environment that fosters engagement, motivation, and positive behavioural outcomes. You will work closely with teachers and other support staff to implement tailored strategies that encourage learning and personal development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support to a Year 7 student with challenging behaviour, helping them access the curriculum effectively.
  • Assist in the development of individualised learning plans and strategies to address specific needs.
  • Foster a positive and respectful relationship with the pupil to build trust and encourage positive behaviour.
  • Collaborate with teachers to create and implement engaging lesson plans that accommodate diverse learning styles.
  • Monitor and record the pupil’s progress and behaviour, providing feedback to the teaching staff.
  • Assist with the implementation of behaviour management strategies consistent with school policies.
  • Support the pupil during breaks and transitions between classes to maintain a safe and positive environment.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Previous experience working in a school environment, ideally with challenging behaviours or special educational needs.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or behaviour management would be an advantage.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students and staff.
  • Patience, empathy, and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and a commitment to ensuring the welfare of children.

  • Enhanced Childs DBS
  • DBS update service
  • Registration to the Education Workforce council (EWC)
  • Able to provide 2 most recent references.
  • Right to work in the UK.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
