If so, we invite you to apply for the role of SEMH Teaching Assistant at our dynamic secondary school in Rawtenstall.

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and empathetic SEMH Teaching Assistant to join our team from January 2025 until July 2025. The successful candidate will work closely with teachers and the SEN department to provide tailored support to students with SEMH needs, ensuring they feel safe, understood, and able to engage with their education.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 or small group support to students with SEMH needs.
  • Assist in implementing individual education plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students to help improve their emotional well-being and academic progress.
  • Support the classroom teacher by preparing resources, assisting with lesson delivery, and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment for all students.

Candidate Requirements

  • Experience working with young people, preferably in an educational or SEMH setting.
  • A good understanding of SEMH needs and how they can impact a student's ability to learn.
  • Patience, resilience, and strong communication skills.
  • Ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and families.
  • Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant, Mental Health Support) are
