Position: Teaching Assistant

Start Date: November 2024

Contract Type: Temporary or Permanent (following an 18-week hire period)

Hours: Part-time (19.5 hours/week) or Full-time (32.5 hours/week)


About the School: Teaching Personnel is partnering with a successful 11-16 mixed comprehensive trust school in Bournemouth, rated ‘GOOD’ by Ofsted with ‘outstanding qualities’. The school is undergoing an exciting transition within their SEN Department and Student Support Centre. This term, these departments have started collaborating more closely to support the individual needs of students. They are now looking to recruit additional Teaching Assistants to join the team from November 2024.

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Provide support to students with Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs).
  • Assist students with various special educational needs, including social communication difficulties, autism, dyslexia, or behavioral issues.
  • Support students on a 1:1 or small group basis within a classroom setting, following the class teacher’s instructions.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Experience with young people with special educational needs or social communication difficulties is beneficial but not essential.
  • Passionate about supporting young people to overcome barriers to learning.
  • High standard of communication, numeracy, and literacy skills.
  • Ability to promote these skills effectively to ensure outstanding academic outcomes.

Additional Information:

  • Previous experience working in a school is not essential. The school values personal experience with children and SEN requirements or other transferable skills such as sports coaching.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
