Job Title: ALN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newport
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:40 AM – 3:40 PM
Pay: Starting at £12.90 per hour
Start Date: November 2024

About the Role: Teaching Personnel is excited to recruit a dedicated ALN Teaching Assistant for a partnership school in Newport, specifically within their LRB unit. You will support a small class of 10 students, all of whom have severe Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and varying behavioral needs. We are looking for a resilient, patient, and compassionate individual to help create a nurturing learning environment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with teachers and fellow assistants to support students with Additional Learning Needs (ALN).
• Foster a positive atmosphere that encourages social, emotional, and academic growth.
• Build trusting relationships with students, staff, and parents to ensure effective communication and support.
• Adapt to the dynamic classroom environment and handle challenging behaviors with strength and empathy.
• Uphold the school’s safeguarding policies and create a safe, caring space for all pupils.

What We’re Looking For:

• Registration with the Education Workforce Council (EWC).
• A Child Only DBS certificate registered on the Update System.
• Two professional references covering the last 24 months.
• Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN) is a plus, but we also encourage applicants with personal experience or a strong desire to develop relevant skills.
