Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Accrington, Lancashire
Pay Rate: Starting from £12.90 per hour
Hours: Full-time or Part-time positions available

Role Overview:

As an SEN Teaching Assistant in a mainstream primary school, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide targeted support for children with special educational needs. This role involves one-to-one support and small group work, helping students with varying needs to engage effectively in their learning.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Support the learning and development of children with SEN.
  • Implement individual education plans (IEPs) tailored to each student's needs.
  • Collaborate with teachers to adapt lessons and resources.
  • Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and self-esteem in students.
  • Assist with behaviour management and provide emotional support when needed.
  • Provide feedback to teachers, SENCO, and parents regarding student progress.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children with SEN is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient personality.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Relevant qualifications in SEN or Teaching Assistance are an advantage.
