Smile Education is seeking enthusiastic Teaching Assistants to work on a supply basis in primary schools across Smethwick. This role offers flexibility, variety, and the chance to support young learners across different settings.
Role Overview:
As a Supply Teaching Assistant, you will support teachers and pupils in primary schools on an ad-hoc basis, providing vital assistance where needed. Your role will involve helping pupils with their learning, encouraging a positive classroom atmosphere, and ensuring each child gets the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:

  • Supporting the class teacher with lesson preparation and classroom activities.
  • Providing one-to-one and small group support to pupils, including those with SEN.
  • Assisting with classroom management and promoting positive behaviour.
  • Encouraging pupil engagement and participation in lessons.
  • Ensuring safeguarding and welfare standards are maintained at all times.
  • Adapting to different school environments and age groups as required.
Requirements:
  • Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience in a primary school setting is advantageous.
  • A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their learning.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work well as part of a team.
  • Flexibility to work in different schools and year groups.
  • A valid Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to apply).
  • Right to work in the UK.
