Teaching Personnel are working with a therapeutic care and education school in Arundel who are looking for a Therapeutic Childcare Practitioner. The candidate will be able to work with the child to understand their individual needs, the way they work, and put their individual strategies in place to facilitate their learning.

About the role:

This role requires a practitioner who is nurturing and able to build trusting relationships with vulnerable people whilst raising self-esteem and confidence, in order to increase success in their educational, social and behavioural needs. The candidate will feel passionate about supporting vulnerable and traumatised children through therapeutic work and want to make a difference in children’s lives. The role will involve prioritising relationships with the children and implementing individual learning plans. The role requires a candidate that understands how to support children outside of the classroom and adapt their practice to fit their needs throughout the day. They will be expected to support the child from 8:30am-15:00pm, which will include working outside and inside the classroom. The school’s procedures will be explained on entrance.

This therapeutic, trauma-informed school supports children in building back their confidence and direction in their own education in a nurturing and understanding way. The school works to engage children in their learning and help them to catch up on any areas of learning that they may have missed due to a range of circumstances.
