Trainee Teaching Assistant

A larger-than-average primary school in Garston is looking to appoint a Trainee Teaching Assistant within their early year’s foundation stage setting. Over the past two years, the school has successfully appointed three teaching assistants who are currently studying or have recently completed a teaching assistant qualification. Due to this success, the Head Teacher has reached out to Teaching Personnel to address their recruitment needs.

Role Overview:

As a trainee Teaching Assistant in early years, you will:

Provide support to teachers in preparing for lessons and help create a safe and enjoyable learning environment for all pupils at the start of their primary education journey.

Collaborate with the class teacher during lessons to support pupils with classroom activities and help manage behaviour, promote independence, and encourage learning.

Use excellent communication and enthusiasm to support all pupils in progressing, achieving, and overcoming any challenges.

Support all areas of the curriculum, including English, maths, and phonics, within the classroom.

Responsibilities:

Support pupils, ensuring their safety and access to learning.

Encourage pupils to act independently as appropriate.

Prepare the classroom for lessons and clear away afterward.

Assist the teacher in managing pupil behaviour and report any difficulties.

Help pupils understand lesson instructions.

Support pupils in subjects such as English, maths, and phonics, as directed by the teacher.

Assist with the supervision of pupils at lunchtimes.

Comply with all necessary policies and procedures relating to child protection, equality and diversity, health, safety and security, confidentiality, and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person.

Role Details:

Hours: 8:30 – 15:30, Monday – Friday

Includes a 30-minute welfare duty

Open to educators currently studying a TA/CACHE/Childcare qualification

Pay range: £12.90 - £13.50 per hour

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
