A Secondary School based in East Sussex are looking for an unqualified teacher of science to join their thriving department. You must have an A Level or degree within one of the sciences, and be willing to teach students up to Key Stage 4. 

As an unqualified teacher of Science at the school, the successful candidate would be responsible for general Science teaching across key stage 3 and 4 and work within a supportive department of specialist practitioners. As a teacher within the schools Science department, you will be responsible for delivering engaging lessons to mixed ability students, and to contribute to the departments journey of continually improving results. You should be able to teach Biology, Chemistry or Physics to KS3. 

The department is lead by its established and highly skilled Head of Department, supported by key stage leaders, and the Senior Leadership Team. The School is a large, mixed secondary school with a vibrant 11-16 cohort. The School site enjoys state-of-the-art facilities, with fully equipped Science labs and a wealth of resources. 

Recently the school enjoyed a brand-new purpose-built site, modernising each department to bring technology to the forefront of teaching. The school are looking for a teacher who is confident in using technology to enhance their Science lessons and one who is able to drive enthusiasm in the subject through differing teaching methods and teaching practises.  If you feel that the position is going well, there may also be opportunity to complete your teacher training under the schools guidance and mentoring. 

The successful candidate will be an integral part of the future success of the department and the school more widely, and as a result will enjoy industry leading CPD and opportunities to up skill. You must align yourself to the school ethos focusing of student and staff well-being, and student attainment. The successful Candidate must:

  • Be educated within an A Level/ Degree within one of the sciences 
  • Have some experience working with children within a secondary school
  • Excellent subject knowledge and good ICT skills
  • Have proof of right to work in the UK, a UK/EU Passport or valid Biometric Residence Permit
