Are you passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of young children? Do you have a background in psychology or health and social care? If so, we invite you to apply for the role of Wellbeing Lead at a primary school in Southport (PR8), where you can make a meaningful difference in the lives of our pupils.

As our Wellbeing Lead, you will play a pivotal role in promoting and supporting the mental and emotional wellbeing of all students. You will work closely with staff, pupils, and parents to create a nurturing and supportive school environment. Your expertise will be vital in identifying and addressing the emotional and psychological needs of our pupils, ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive.

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive wellbeing strategy for the school, aligned with our ethos and values.
  • Provide one-on-one and group support to pupils, helping them develop resilience, self-esteem, and positive mental health.
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and staff to integrate wellbeing practices into the classroom and school culture.
  • Offer guidance and support to parents and carers, helping them understand and address their children's emotional needs.
  • Coordinate with external agencies and professionals to ensure pupils have access to specialised support when needed.
  • Deliver training and workshops for staff on topics related to mental health and wellbeing.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of wellbeing initiatives, making adjustments as necessary.

Essential:

  • A qualification in Psychology, Health and Social Care, or a related field (college-level or degree).
  • Experience working with children, ideally within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and parents.
  • A deep understanding of the challenges children may face and how to support their emotional development.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong organisational and time-management skills.
  • A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.

Desirable:

  • Experience delivering wellbeing programmes or initiatives in a school setting.
  • Training in specific therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, mindfulness) would be an advantage.
