Here at Teaching Personnel, we work with large and diverse secondary schools across Newport and are currently recruiting for a Welsh speaking Teaching Assistant. The successful candidate will be driven and passionate about the education sector and will demonstrate their resilience whilst supporting pupils and teaching staff to contribute to the overall positive learning environment.

Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Sector: Welsh Secondary

Hours: Monday to Friday 8:30-15:30

Pay: Minimum £12.90 per hour

Start date: ASAP

Responsibilities:

  • Support pupils and teaching staff
  • Build trusting relationships offering social and emotional support
  • Create a positive and encouraging learning environment
  • Adapt to various situations as they arise demonstrating flexibility and resilience

As a Teaching Assistant, you will receive a Level 2 Child Safeguarding qualification before you start, and many more CPD opportunities once in the school!  There are many courses available including:  Team Teach behaviour management course, Autism Awareness, An Introduction to the Thrive Approach and The Complete SEND Diploma.

The school you will be joining is based in Newport, although we do have opportunities in other schools across South Wales, so please get in touch to find out about other vacant positions we are working on.

Job requirements:

  • Right to work in the UK
  • Enhanced Child Only DBS Certificate (we can help you obtain this)
  • To be registered with the EWC (Education Workforce Council)
  • Two professional references covering 24 months
  • Level 2 Safeguarding (provided by Teaching Personnel)

Whilst having professional experience working with children is desirable, we welcome applications from people who have personal experience or someone who is simply willing to fully engage and develop skills in this field.
