Teaching Personnel have been approached by a school in Liverpool who require a Youth Worker to support secondary students in an alternative provision school. The children who attend may have complex SEMH difficulties and often displays very challenging behaviours. The school attempts to provide specialist and individualised support for each pupil who attends this school and uses therapeutic measures to help resolve some of their barriers to their education. Many pupils who attend this provision have previously had a bad experience at school and have been persistently absent. Therefore, this provision has a wide and varied curriculum which can appeal to the strengths of each pupil and help them to re-engage.

As a youth worker, you will be responsible for:

-          Helping a cohort of pupils to engage in their lessons

-          Be a motivator for pupils when they do not want to attend

-          Build rapport with pupils

-          Advocate for them when others are planning a individualised curriculum

-          Support pupils in and outside of lessons

Previous experience in a PRU setting would be great but isn’t essential, and the right motivation, personal qualities and levels of resilience are just as important. These roles are ideal for people working in customer facing industries including retail, hospitality and leisure, looking for a new role that makes a real difference to children’s lives and futures.

Already qualified to or willing to work towards your NVQ3 in Supporting Teaching and Learning in School, you will be calm, engaging, resilient, able to work the required shifts, and be motivated to provide a safe, caring environment where every child can thrive.

The pay for this role will be £85-£100 per day.

This is a full-time role spanning across school hours Monday – Friday.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
