Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated and motivated Youth Worker to join an Ofsted-rated "Good" secondary school in Denton, Tameside. This full-time role begins in October and will run until the end of the academic year, offering the possibility of a permanent position depending on performance. Role Overview: As a Youth Worker, you will be an essential part of the school's pastoral team, working closely with students who require additional support to thrive both in and out of the classroom. You will play a pivotal role in helping students navigate challenges, build resilience, and develop the skills needed for success in school and beyond.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and group support to students, helping them to overcome personal, social, and academic challenges.
  • Develop and implement tailored support plans for students, addressing their specific needs and circumstances.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students, acting as a mentor and positive role model.
  • Collaborate with teachers, pastoral staff, and external agencies to provide a comprehensive support network for students.
  • Lead and facilitate activities and workshops aimed at promoting students' personal development, social skills, and emotional well-being.
  • Assist students in setting and achieving personal goals, encouraging positive behaviour and attitudes.
  • Monitor and track students' progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Support the school's safeguarding policies, ensuring the safety and well-being of all students.
  • Contribute to the school's wider pastoral care strategy, participating in staff meetings and training as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with young people in an educational, youth work, or similar setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to connect with and motivate young people.
  • A compassionate and empathetic approach, with a genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to success.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently when required.
  • Knowledge of safeguarding practices and a commitment to promoting the welfare of students.
  • Relevant qualifications in youth work, education, or a related field are desirable but not essential.
