Classic Education is assisting a school in the Thamesmead area recruit a qualified intervention teacher for an April 2021 start.

The role will involve leading interventions with small groups 3 days per week and covering class teachers for the other 2 days.

The successful intervention teacher will play a key role in assisting students who are experiencing difficulties in the classroom as a result of the limited face to face classroom teaching due to the disruption from the Covid pandemic. With a successful special education background, you will provide expertise and intentional support to students who have fallen behind and demonstrate the associated educational challenges.


As a Intervention / Catch-up Teacher you will be required to

  • Provide special direction to students who have been selected for Individualised Support
  • Work with parents and classroom teachers to consolidate classroom learning
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills and the ability to relate to a diverse student base
  • Provide detailed documentation of student progress and attainment
  • Assessment of student potential and recommendations for further support where required
  • Liaise with appropriate teams for identified students who are in need of additional assistance

A proven track record in a similar role is essential as you will be required to hit the ground running and make an immediate impact on pupil progress. Versatility across all year groups will be required as the interventions will take place across all year groups in KS2.
